The position will focus on design and implementation of the data tier for a database intensive analytics built on a Microsoft SQL2005 backbone. We utilize the entire SQL2K5 technology stack -- including the enterprise capabilities of the database server. 

 

The DB engineer will be a member of the application team and responsible for the design and implementation of application and data tier functionality leveraging the above-mentioned technology components. As a member of a small team delivering software as a service offering, all DB engineers on the team are also expected to have some production support responsibilities.

 

The DB engineer will have a solid computer science foundation, an analytical mind with good communications and problem solving skills, and 7-10 years of professional experience. The candidate must be able to analyze SQL queries for performance bottlenecks and optimize such queries with a structured approach. Specific experience on the SQL2K5 platform is required.  Experience with advanced SQL server capabilities such as partitioning, replication, and service broker and the ability to use these features to scale out data intensive applications is a strong plus.

 

The following skills are required

 

* Strong grounding in relational database concepts and data modeling on the SQL Server 2005 platform.

 

* Strong understanding of transaction processing concepts

 

* SQL query execution fundamentals and query optimization principles *Server 2008 platform

Agilex Technologies is looking for Senior SQL Server Database Administrator to join our consulting team.  Qualified candidates will work on Homeland Security projects with senior developers that specialize in the development of applications that utilize the entire Microsoft application stack.

Responsibilities
o    Manage large high-availability SQL Server 2005 environment.
o    Proactively monitor database performance and stability.
o    Provide and maintain Backup / Recovery models.
o    Troubleshooting application issues with additional technical personnel.
o    Collaborate with development team on technical solutions.
o    Provide high-quality consultation to business partners.
o    Demonstrate keen aptitude in acquiring business domain expertise.
o    Follow established enterprise development and design standards, guidelines and processes.
o    Ensure that all best practices and enterprise standards are followed.
o    Ensure deadlines are met, yet be forthright on progress and flexible.
o    Produce high-quality technical documentation.
o    Interact with team members at a highly professional and technical level.


Skill Requirements

   5+ years of work experience as a Database Administrator supporting Microsoft SQL Server versions 2005 and later.
o    5+ years of working with large-scale database residing in a highly-available environment.
o    5+ years of maintaining multiple environments supporting different business goals (Production, Development, Testing, etc).
o    5+ years of SQL Server BI tools (SSIS / SSRS / SSAS).
o    Experience Data Modeling, Troubleshooting and Performance Tuning.
o    Experience of incorporating Security and Encryption features included in SQL Server.
o    Experience performing SQL Server Installations and Upgrades from previous versions.
o    Basic understanding of ASP.NET Web Development (2.0 and later).
o    Microsoft MCDBA (or similar certification) will be a plus.


Candidates should possess and be able to demonstrate a high level of proficiency in the following:

o    Microsoft SQL Server Administration (2005 and Later)
o    SQL Server BI Suite (2005 and later) and related ETL tools (SQL Server 2000)

Working knowledge and proficiency of the following is also preferred:

o    Microsoft SQL Server development (2005 and later)
o    Visual Source Safe or equivalent source control software
o    SCRUM and Agile methodologies
o    Microsoft Project Server


Professional Requirements

o    Professional consulting experience and background required.
o    Proven strong innovative and analytical ability with extensive implementation experience.
o    Must be a “team player” and have excellent written and oral communication skills.
o    “Self-Starter” that has the ability to work under general direction.
o    Ability to balance work across multiple projects concurrently.
o    BA/BS in Computer Science, MIS, or other IT related field preferred.
o    United States Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Customs and Border Protection suitability.
